Product Areas
Material science
Quantum Design's magnetic property measurement and physical property measurement systems are instruments used for material studies. These systems are installed in all of the leading research institutes around the world and see extensive use in the study of new generation superconducting materials. We are also working with a manufacturer of x-ray fluorescent microscopy systems used for elemental analysis with a wide range of unique applications. Finally, we are collaborating with a manufacturer of pulsed laser deposition systems on instrumentation used for producing the next generation of thin films.
Optoelectronics
With our range of UV laser products, we are leading the way in establishing new commercial applications in materials processing. Another area we see opportunities is in the datacom and telecom markets. We are working closely with the leading Japanese telecom companies to find optical solutions for these markets.
Lifescience
Our biotechnology efforts are focused on the following areas:
- DNA analysis
- Drug discovery
- Medical diagnostic tools
Current DNA analysis products include DNA sequencing, DNA prep, gel documentation, and microarray imaging systems. In the drug discovery area, we are working with some of the leading pharmaceutical companies in Japan to help bring high throughput screening instrumentation to the market.
